Allene Elder - Elder Vineyard
Retired
Banker turned Vineyard Owner
Allene was born
in Los Angeles/ Inglewood California. Her parents moved to Bakersfield
when she started high school. That is where Clarence and Allene met and
eventually married.
Allene raised three children and had a career in banking. After
retiring from banking, she moved with Clarence to Creston to become
involved with farming and growing of the wine grapes. She noticed that
one does not just “grow” grapes. One has to learn how to market, sell
the grapes and make some wine. This is a big job. Like most women, she
got involved.
Shortly after joining this group there was a need to "help out -
a little bit". This of course, led to bigger and more involved
endeavors.
Allene is a charter member of the Independent Grape Growers Paso Robles
Area (IGGPRA), serves as a director on the board and is the Newsletter
Editor. She is also involved with church activities, sits on a
board, belongs to other Paso Robles organizations and donates her time
in helping people in need.
Growers Helping Growers is the motto that is printed on the newsletter,
and all the information and articles are directed to this one idea.
