Milt
Laird, Treasurer
Army
Officer & Financial Whiz Returns to Farming Roots
Milt has been
around farming most of his life. He grew up in Oklahoma working
on his grandparent’s farm growing corn, maize and other field crops, as
well as raising hogs and some cattle. In those days of the
depression, the farm had no electricity or running water, so Milt has
plenty of experience with hand pumping water, milking cows, chopping
wood and plowing with horses and mules.
After college, and prior to entering the world of financial management,
Milt served in the US Army on active duty in Germany and then in the
reserves. After his military service, Milt returned to Southern
California as a Certified Public Accountant where he worked in the
Financial Services industry as a consultant, investment advisor and CFO
for several companies.
After investing in other agriculture projects, Milt purchased his first
Chardonnay vineyard in Sebastopol, Ca. in 1978. Milt and Carlene
sold that vineyard in 1999 and moved to Paso Robles.
The Laird Family now owns Adobe Road Vineyard and Kokopelli Vineyard
where they plan on staying for a very long time.
